We like to spend time with friends, so we invite them to do things. We can say things like, “Do you want to go to a rock concert with me this weekend?” or “Would you like to play basketball after school?” If you want to accept the invitation, you can say, “I’d love to, thanks,” or “Sure, what time?” If you can’t accept, you can say, “I’m so sorry, I can’t,” or “I’d really like to, but I’m tied up this afternoon.”
(in the Jungle Café)
Tina: Hi, Taylor. What are you doing this weekend?
Taylor: I don’t have any plans.
Tina: Do you want to go to a concert with me?
Taylor: Thanks for the invitation. What kind of concert is it?
Tina: It’s a rock concert. Do you like rock music?
Taylor: I do!
Tina: My favorite musician is playing. She’s very talented.
Taylor: Sounds wonderful. I’d love to go.
Taylor: Will you invite others?
Tina: I want to invite Susie. Does she like rock music?
Taylor: I’m not sure.
Tina: OK. I’ll ask her.
Taylor: Susie might be tied up this weekend though.
Tina: I hope not. But I’ll still invite her.
Taylor: Good. If she can go, she’ll accept.
Tina: I’m so excited!
Taylor: Me, too! We’ll have a great time!
