Beach Cleanup
淨灘活動
Manya Cramer

Many people enjoy the beach, but sometimes they leave trash behind. No one likes a beach covered with trash. Volunteers arrange beach cleanups to pick up the trash. They walk up and down the beach and pick up all kinds of trash. Volunteers are careful when picking up trash. Some wear gloves. Others use trash grabbers. Everyone wears good shoes to protect their feet. A beach cleanup is a great way to make a beach beautiful, safe and clean again!

Conversation A

(in the Jungle Café)

James: Hi, Alice. How are you?

Alice:   Hey, James. I’m good. I’m arranging a beach cleanup.

James: Are you looking for volunteers?

Alice:   Yes, I am! Do you want to be a volunteer?

James: Maybe. Please tell me more.

Alice:   We’re picking up trash at Turtle Beach on Saturday morning.

James: Do volunteers need to bring anything?

Alice:   Nothing at all. Just wear good shoes and comfortable clothes.

Conversation B

James: People leave a lot of trash on Turtle Beach.

Alice:   Yes. It’s too bad.

James: It may take a long time to get all the trash.

Alice:   Yes. If we have more volunteers, then we can pick up more trash.

James: OK. I’ll help.

Alice:   Yay! Write your name here.

James: OK.

Alice:   I’ll provide gloves, trash grabbers, bags and water.

James: Sounds great!

Alice:   Thanks, James.
